Mikaela Atkins, M.S. CCC-SLP, TSSLD
With nearly a decade of experience working with children of all ages, Mikaela brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice. She is a New York State licensed and ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) Certified Speech-Language Pathologist. In addition, she is a certified Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). Mikaela received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Linguistics at the University of Michigan, and her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Hunter College.
Mikaela has professional training in programs including the Orton-Gillingham Approach, The Writing Revolution Method, and Wilson Reading. She has also completed extensive coursework on Early Intervention, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and Culturally Responsive Instruction, ensuring a comprehensive approach to her work. She specializes in supporting children whose speech and language challenges impact their reading, writing, social, and academic success.
Mikaela is passionate about creating personalized therapy plans that celebrate each child’s unique interests and strengths. She enjoys collaborating with families and caregivers to design engaging and effective therapy sessions. As a tenured teacher of speech improvement within the New York City Department of Education, Mikaela’s understanding of academic and school expectations helps her bridge the gap between home and school, supporting children’s communication and literacy development while they become the most confident versions of themselves.
In her free time, Mikaela loves to read, explore NYC, and spend time with her nieces (pictured on the right)!
